Day 7: Sacramento Landmarks

We got to Sacramento ahead of schedule, at 5:30 a.m. Visited the State Capitol in the morning. It was completed in 1874 and is very impressive. Like Wisconsin's Capitol (the best in the nation), it is attractively designed, surrounded by a nice lawn with old trees, and located downtown.

Went to the California State Railroad Museum in the afternoon. It is outstanding, with major exhibits about the building of the transcontinental railroad, railroad work and travel by train (dining, sleeping and mail cars). The Roundhouse has locomotives and cars from the mid-1800s through the late Twentieth Century. Here are a few photos from the museum. I'll also add a few to my previous post from Day 5, May 10, about the Transcontinental Railroad.
