Day 11: The Sunset Limited through Arizona

The Sunset Limited headed east from Los Angeles at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday. I woke up in the night listening to the train’s whistle blowing and watching a full moon over a white desert, with moonlight reflecting from the rails and the darkness occasionally punctuated by the flashing red lights at a road crossing.

The sun rose over western Arizona and the rest of the morning was spent traveling through the Arizona desert - lots of desert. Here are a few photos with a desert and railroad theme.
